Choosing a noticeboard colour

Our noticeboards come covered in red, maroon, green, blue or black cloth, or plain without cloth. Here is how to pick.

Blue Calm and professional. The most popular choice for offices, staff rooms and reception areas. White paper stands out well against it.

Green Easy on the eye and a school favourite. Works well in classrooms, libraries and corridors.

Red Bold and attention-grabbing. Use it for notices that must be seen: safety information, exam schedules, announcements.

Maroon A richer, more formal red that suits principal's offices, boardrooms and institutions with maroon in their colours.

Black Modern and high-contrast. Coloured paper and bright pins pop against it, so it suits creative spaces and shop displays.

Plain (without cloth) The lowest-cost option, for back-office use, storerooms, or where the board will be fully covered with papers anyway.

Tips for schools and offices - Match the colour to your school or company colours for a consistent look across a building. - Use one colour per purpose, for example blue for staff notices and red for safety, so people know where to look.
